CE Pre-Approval (PACE)
Continuing Education Pre-Approval for Providers
To retain the valued CDMS® credential, board-certified disability management specialists must earn 80 hours in continuing education every five years, or re-take the CDMS exam. CDMS Pre-Approved Continuing Education (PACE™) is a simple, streamlined path for organizations to quickly reach disability management specialists with pre-approved workshops, webinars, and continuing education coursework. Please refer to our PACE Guide for complete information about PACE, including details about the requirements & instructions on submitting a PACE application.
Providers offering continuing education (CE) programs in disability management who wish to obtain CDMS pre-approval in order to promote their programs to certified individuals are encouraged to submit an application through the online portal.
IMPORTANT UPDATE: PACE Application Updates NOW LIVE!
We heard you! As part of the Commission's continuing efforts to provide value-added continuing education content that is easy for our certificants to access, we have recently reviewed the CDMS PACE application for providers based on feedback from you. We determined that there were some sections that required revisions to ensure that the language used and questions asked have more clarity and provide a better user experience for our certificants. The revisions will ensure a smoother application process from start to finish.
NEW FEATURE NOW AVAILABLE: PACE Renewal Application! We are so excited to be able to finally provide this new application for providers as it was highly requested from you! Here's a quick glance at how it works and where to find the renewal application:
- Approved applications will be eligible for renewal 90 days before their expiration dates. There will only be the option to renew a course if an original application was previously submitted and approved through the PACE online portal.
- The renewal applications can be accessed through the "My PACE Courses" page after logging in. An "Eligible for Renewal" filter will be available from the dropdown menu to access those applications.
Please refer to the memo below that went out to the providers for more information and to preview the application updates:

Pricing & Processing Structure
The new pricing structure is as follows:
Category or Application Type |
Fee |
Standard Approval Category |
$125 per program/activity |
Employers Providing In-Service Education |
$50 per program/activity |
Additional Priority Fee** |
$125 per program/activity |
**An additional priority fee of $125 is charged to all organizations requesting rush processing of their application; this applies to any application submitted 10 to 19 business days prior to the event date. Applications submitted less than 10 business days in advance of the activity date will not be accepted.
Important things to note:
- All applications requesting Ethics CE will require a separate application. Course content for ethics approval must include a discussion of ethics as it relates to the CDMS Code of Professional Conduct and its practical application to the content being presented. A comprehensive outline or a copy of the presentation is required to be submitted with all applications requesting ethics approval. *A comprehensive list will be included in the new CDMS pre-approval guide.
- Applications for Written Enduring Materials: The calculation of CE for written (enduring) material is being changed. While these changes will more accurately reflect appropriate rewarding of credits, you may notice that the credits awarded for the written (enduring) courses will be lower than previously awarded since we are using a different method of calculating those CEs. CEs approved for written (enduring) materials will be based on the length and complexity of the content using the Mergener Formula as the basis for calculation.
- A copy of the Certificate of Completion will be required in the uploads section of the application. Complete instructions for the information necessary will be posted in the CDMS PACE guide
- Learning objectives will now be recorded as learning outcomes.
